Because we all have different needs and goals when it comes to our skin, at Surface Medical Spa we believe in creating customized skin care programs, treatments and treatment plans that will best meet the individual needs of our clients.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are an ideal way to refresh your skin. Chemical Peels utilize specific agents such as glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid to effectively exfoliate the skin resulting in brighter and smoother skin. Chemical peels are effective in treating fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage and pigmentation, and acne. Chemical peels vary in strength and are appropriate for almost all skin types depending on the solution chosen. The best peel for your skin type and challenge will be carefully selected based on your individual needs.
Massage Therapy
Come relax and experience a 30 minute or 60 massage by a licensed massage therapist! We offer several types of massage:
- Swedish Massage: is the most commonly offered and best known type of massage. It uses firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation.
- Deep Tissue Massage: is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep Tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions.") It shouldn't hurt, but it's likely to be a bit more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish massage.
- Pre-natal Massage: pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. The massage is customized to a woman's individual needs.
- Sports Massage: sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. A combination of techniques are used. The strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage. Facilitated stretching is a common technique. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.
- Trigger Point Therapy: a trigger point is an area of muscle that refers pain sensations to other parts of the body. Trigger Point Therapy applies pressure to these points leading to immediate release of tension and improved muscular functioning.
- Reiki: is a Japanese type of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Laser Hair Removal
We utilize the LightSheer diode laser to effectively remove unwanted hair. The light emitted by the LightSheer is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles therefore directly treating the hair. Hair grows in three stages and must be in the anagen phase of growth to effectively be removed and thus multiple treatments will be necessary with an approximate reduction of 10-30% each treatment. The appearance of the treated area after treatment will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of the procedure and skin type. Side effects, if any, are minor.
